Colombia’s Foreign Minister Álvaro Leyva clarified on Oct. 16 that the Israeli ambassador to the South American country, Gali Dagan, had not been expelled. Petro responded that day with a message on X, that partly read, “if we have to suspend foreign relations with Israel, we suspend them. I have not said that the Israeli ambassador is expelled,” he posted in Spanish on X, saying Petro should be spoken to with respect when it comes to diplomatic relations.
